Spotting

I felt fine today, but when I went to the bathroom and wiped (sorry tmi) there was some pinkish blood. I put a pad on, but nothing has leaked on the pad yet. I don't have any cramping, I feel completely fine it just scared the crap out of me. I started bawling and DH is trying to calm me down telling me that everything is going to be okay. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I am 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant today.

Re: Spotting

  • As said in the post below, call your doctor.  I, personally, have had spotting in all three pregnancies and I'm fine as are babies, but it is always best to call your doctor.

  • That can be normal, but you should call your doctor. I had some light spotting at 10 weeks, but everything is okay with baby!

  • First, call your Md. He/She may want to see you. Second, and this is the hardest, try to stay calm. I have had on/off spotting since BFP. Three U/S later, we still have a healthy baby with a great heartbeat. No matter if this is your 1st or 6th baby, anytime you see blood (red or brown) it is scary. Call your MD., and keep us posted! Good Luck!

  • You should call your doctor. Spotting is common, but not always "routine." You should at least be seen so they can rule out any problems. I'm sure they'll fit you in for an u/s if you give them a call.
  • That happened to me yesterday. I had some minor cramping off and on last night. Call your doc. Mine didn't seem too worried as it wasn't bright red or a lot, but she is doing an u/s to make us both feel better. Hang in there, try to drink a bunch of water and relax a little (i know it is hard). Keep us updated.

  • The fact that you don't have any cramping is a good sign.  My doctor advised me when you have spotting accompanied by cramps, its usually not good.

At 11 weeks I started spotting brown in the am.  I didn't have any cramping.  I thought nothing of it.  Three hours later, in a restaurant, I soaked a pantyliner with bright red blood.  For sure, I thought I was miscarrying.    I checked into an emergency room.  Long story short, the baby was fine, she was measuring exact and the h/b was excellent.  I was dx with threatened miscarriage and was told to stay off my feet for 3 days.

The spotting can mean something bad or it can mean nothing at all.  Suffice to say, call your doc if you're really worried.
