cold turkey PTing- what do I do next?

So last week and this week I've mostly stayed at home and kept DD naked from the waist down.  She has done really great- had a few accidents last week, and no accidents at all for the past two days.  She's still in diapers for sleeping.  Her little potty is in the family room where we hang out, and she is going on it whenever she needs to, I haven't had to remind her.

I'm so proud of her, but I'm not sure what step to take next.  Do I put her potty in the bathroom?  Do I put her in undies and pants?  I've tried putting some bulky waterproof training pants on her but she treats them just like diapers and pees in them.  What about going out, put her in a diaper I guess?  If you have any advice, TIA!

Re: cold turkey PTing- what do I do next?

  • I recommend underwear. My daycare said they couldn't do much more with DS until he had underwear because they need to get used to the feel of them, and if they have accidents, they don't like the way it feels, so they learn.

The first week, I thought they were out of control nuts as he had many (poopy) accidents, not fun to clean up 8 hours after the accident (they just put the dirty undies in a bag) but I kept on. Today is almost one full week (I JUST jinxed myself) of no accidents.  He is doing great and the IL's bought him all kinds of character undies so I let him pick it out in the morning and he loves that!  GL!

  • Put her in underwear for sure.  No more diapers.  I would even try underwear for naps.

As for going out, bring a full change of clothes and a plastic bag.  What's the worst that could happen?

It sounds like you are doing just great!!!

  • It sounds like she is doing fantastic!!!  Great job!  I would try some undies only at home (no pants yet) and see how she does.  Has she had undies at all yet?  If not, explain that they are not diapers, they are big girl undies and she needs to keep them dry.  She'll probably be excited, so adorable!  Since she obviously understands the urge and when to go now, I bet she'll do great.  I would not put her back in diapers at all (other than nap and nighttime), not even for going out.  Just take extra clothes with you.  Good luck!
