Trying to Get Pregnant

My poor dog :(

He has to get 3 teeth pulled today. And he already has a few missing teeth. I feel so bad for the poor little guy.

The vet said two molars are so badly infected that he probably wasn't using them and was likely in pain all the time. So add that to the other two molars that were extracted before we got him.

We rescued Benny last year from a kennel owner who was charged with two counts of animal cruelty. When we got Benny (a 4-5yo Lhasa/Shih Tzu mix), he had just had a tumor removed from his ear and couldn't see out of one eye and the other wasn't too good, either. His legs weren't strong from being in a cage his whole life, and he couldn't even go down steps steadily.

When we took him to an eye specialist, we found out his eye had endured a puncture wound that wasn't treated so it didn't heal, thus the near blindness. We give him eye drops now, though, so the other eye is a little better and they are not getting any worse.

I just feel so bad for him. He also has a sensitive stomach, and I think we've finally found a food that is better since he only throws up every two weeks instead of every two days.

Sad

  • Thanks. It's going to cost like $600 -- which is irrelevant. DH said he didn't care the cost, he just wants Benny to not be in pain.

He's going to be such a good dad! ::someday soon, I hope::

  • Poor dog!  That happened to one of my cats last year.  I took them to the vet to get their teeth cleaned, and when I called to check on them later the vet said that the one cat has really bad teeth and had to have FOUR extracted!!  After awhile, the gum hardens so they have no problem chewing.  He still weighs 18 pounds, so it hasn't slowed him down, and it helps if anything because now he has no tooth pain!
  • Poor baby! Im so glad that you guys recued him and are taking good care of him!

  • Poor pup has had a rough life. I gotta tell you that youare doing the right thing getting the teeth pulled. My stepmom has a rescued chihuhua and they kept having to pull more teeth - she's down to like 4 teeth now & her tongue hangs out all the time because there arent enough teeth to hold it in her mouth - but she is like a new dog again. The infected teeth cause them a lot of pain and they feel soo much better when they're gone. Good luck!
  • Oh poor dog!  He's lucky to have you!
  • Aw, thanks so much, ladies! It helps to hear that the lack of teeth hopefully won't really affect him. We were worried about that, but just optimistic that he would be free of pain.

  • Rescue rocks and you are awesome for picking one of the non-perfect puppies!  I love it.  But boo for all he is going through.  Hugs for him and you.
