It makes me think girl. The only times I've seen Campbell its been for a girl, but I could see it for either really. There's a new anchor named Campbell. Campbell Brown . . . I believe she's on NBC.
I think it can be either. But there's a Campbell in my son's preschool class. And I think of Campbell Brown (who was Alma Campbell Brown) - for her it was a family surname. So definitely a girl's name to my ears.
I've only known one Campbell and he was a boy, but I LOVE it for a girl. To me it is one of those names that sounds *actually* feminine when paired with a girl's face, not a name that sounds like you gave a girl a boy's name.

I like it for both! It would be really cute either way. On the other hand, it does make me think of soup and the pp was right about kids being mean. I really like it but probably wouldn't use it for that reason.

This. Campbell is my maiden name so of course I love it especially for a girl.
Re: Campbell...boy or girl?
This. Your child will be teased. Kids are mean these days. Dont like it
I love it for either but I think of it as a girl's name.
It was my great-grandmothers name!
I also think soup.
I really don't like it as a first name at all. If it was used, I would def'n assume boy.
Me, too. She's on CNN now.
This. It sounds like an assertive female name.
Girl
Like it!
Me too.
