scared to ask.....

....but is "Charlotte" becoming too trendy?  It's my grandmother's name and we were really close....I've wanted to name my daughter after her since I was 10.  What do you think?  I DON'T want her to be one of three and always be known as "Charlotte R."

Re: scared to ask.....

  • I don't think it's too trendy.  I love it (it was my great aunt's name) and it's a classic.  Even if it is becoming more popular, I don't think there are going to be more than one in a class.  We named our daughter Elizabeth and with all of our music, gym classes and library time and playdates, I haven't met another one her age.

  • I dont think so. To me it sounds like an older name. I personally do not know any of them.

  • I don't think it is too trendy. I don't hear too many children named that. It is very pretty!

  • I don't think it's too trendy and I really like the name Charlotte. I say go for it.
  • To me, it's not trendy --it's an old fashioned name that is becoming very popular again. Sort of like what happened with Madeline and Sophia --old names that became popular again. To me trendy is Madison or Avery.

It is popular in NE--I have met 3 Charlottes under age 2 but it is a great name!

  • I think it's become more popular as of late but in no way would I say that it has anywhere reached the trendy point. I think it's a beautiful name and if you've liked it since you were ten and has so much meaning then go for it.

  • Eh, if you've wanted it since you were 10, does it matter how trendy it is? My favorite boys name was written in my journal in middle school and now its super trendy- I'm still using it though- can't imagine using something else.

    Exactly.

I use this to see the trend of the name.  It was #87 last year.

  • i don't think it's that trendy either. i love that name.
  • It is growing in popularity, but it isn't close to be a "popular" name right now, in my opinion.  It's definitely not trendy, but I think trendy and popular are two different things.  I think your love of the name and the meaning of it supersede worries about the popularity.
  • I don't think it's overly popular.  I am yet to meet one in person.  Good nickname potential too - Char, Charlie

  • Charlotte is a great name - super cute.

It is becoming popular on boards, but I don't think it's in the realm of "too popular" IRL.

    I say go for it!

  • I think it's popular, but still beautiful.  She'll prolly know more than one Charlotte but I don't think it's as bad as Jen was for us.
  • I love the name Charlotte...it sounds very classy and timeless...I don't think it's too popular.
  • Not trendy, but it's very popular.

    I agree!

  • I don't think so. It's classic and pretty.
