I just love the name Tommy, and also love Thomas. Not big on just Tom, which I'm sure he would be called at some point. But does it sound too old fashioned nowadays?
i think thomas is a name that has always been good. it's not crazy popular, but certainly not unheard of. ds is timothy and i think that's along the same lines.

Never! ?Thomas is classic and never goes out of style. ?Plus, I'm a little biased since it's my DH and FIL's name. ?And if we ever have a son, he'll be III. ?
Just an FYI, DH goes by Tommy at home and Tom at work. ?Tom and Thomas are both good business names. ?If we have a son, we're probably going to call him Thomas, but DH wants to call him Trey (because he'll be a III).?
No way! Thomas is a fantastic name. The s on the end of Thomas runs with our last name (begins with an S) or it would have definitely made our list. DH and I both love it.?
I love Thomas and it also happens to be my dad's name. I would love to use it but can't since it's VERY close to our last name. And I keep telling myself we wouldn't use it anyway since I really dislike the the nick names Tommy and Tom.
great name. you can't go wrong. and, surprisingly, tommy ages pretty well. i know a tommy who is going to be a senior next year and still prefers that nn to being called thomas or tom.
Thomas doesn't sound old-fashioned to me at all. I am an elementary school teacher, and I have a Thomas in both Kindergarten and First Grade, so it's still being used. Great name!
Re: is Thomas too old fashioned?
Seeing as the Henry's and Oliver's of the world are coming back in fashion..I think Thomas fits right in.
I like Thomas. I think it's a classic name actually. It's also nice, normal and spelled right.
Thomas would've made our list but our last name sounds a lot like it esp. with Tommy...it was a teasing waiting to be.

I agree. I love it. It's on our list.
