I just bought some Skin so Soft by Avon. I always used it growing up - it totally keeps away the mosquitos. I figured it was safer to use on my baby than bug sprays with all those chemicals.
My pedi recommended that a product use Picaridin, which you can put on clothing without staining. Cutter Advanced uses picaridin. I just found some at Five Below - it's hard to find!
Avon also came out with a new bug spray line that comes in lotion or spray and towelettes and smells great (doesnt smell like bugspray) and it has picaridin.
My pedi (who is fairly young and awesome) says that at least here (in MO) you have to use something with DEET because the risks from mosquitos is worse than the risks from DEET which has been around for a long time. I buy the wipes so she doesn't inhale the spray.
I use Cutter with eucalyptus in it. It doesn't have DEET but is recommended by the CDC for preventing West Nile virus. Works great and doesn't smell bad. It comes in a pump spray, got it at Target.
Re: is bug spray safe?
JASON makes one...https://www.jason-natural.com/products/bug_spray.php
I used the Burt's Bees on on Ben a couple of weekends ago when the mosquitos were really bad and he had not one bite on him.
Whatever you get, make sure it doesn't have Deet in it. That stuff is horrible for you.
Avon's has the Picardin in it.
