Has anyone had a sore throat that just woulnd't go away? it's not strep

I've already been to a doctor to check for strep. ?But I have had a sore throat for over 2 weeks now. ?Tonight it is awful again.?

Last night I took myself to urgent care b/c I had such an awful ear ache. ?He said my eardrum was "cloudy", but not infected, whatever the hell that means.

Now my throat is killing me again. ?I am so over this. ??

I had something similar a few years ago, went to a doc....turned out to be really bad allergies.

Yes, I was basically sick from sept-april after DD went to daycare, I went back to work, and she was waking up about 8 times a night to nurse.  Great fun.  I went to the dr about every 6 weeks and they said it was 'just a virus'.  I thought I was going to die.

I had that a few years ago and it turned out to be Mono.  I kept going back to the dr. because my throat kept hurting.  They tested me for strep it was negative.  I went back they tested me for mono, it came back negitive.  I went back a few days later because me throat still hurt, they tested me again for mono and it came back positive.

Yep. Mine is also not strep, confirmed yesterday. I was given an antibiotic to clear whatever random issue I do have out.

I had the worse sore throat about a month ago. I swore I had strep, but no white lumps in my throat. Turned out to be horrible allergies.

Is this your first spring in LA?  Maybe it is allergies?  I hope it isn't mono.  Yuck.

My mom did recently. She had one for weeks and no voice for most of that time. It was allergies, and I think the culprit was some fancy new makeup she bought herself for Mother's day. It had some sort of botanical spray you are supposed to use after you put it on and she was allergic to that.

Wow. ?I wonder if I should pop one of DH's Zyrtec and see if that helps. ?
