If so, please share...anything! The tri boards I've been on seem so overwhelming. My first one is on Sunday. It's a small one -- I guess it's called a 'sprint' but I won't be sprinting!
I am trying to imagine what it will be like when everyone gets into the water...
Re: Have you ever been in a triathlon?
Good luck.
i did a sprint one awhile ago and it was great!! everyone was really supportive and encouraging. ?i didn't have a road bike so people were totally passing me and they would just yell out, "keep it up". it was really cool.
?
the swimming is my definite strong point, so i didn't deal with being in the pack for that part. ?i know people will grab your leg and pull you back...while the water is shallow you can jump out and dive in over and again if you want... i saw that as well.
also, you will put all of your things in a spot for your "transition" from the water to the bike. not sure what you're wearing... but you'll dry off when you ride, so don't worry about getting completely dry. ?if its warm out, it will feel good to be wet. if its cool, maybe i'd dry off a bit more, but you'll work up a sweat either way.
?as far as the run... your legs feel like lead getting off the bike and starting the run. ?just push through it.. you can get past that and then you'll be almost done when you do.
?so cool that you're doing it. ?good luck!!?
I have done mini triathlons. 4x for swim team in high school. That was how we began the practice season.
1 mile swim, 10k bike, 4.5mile run....so maybe a little smaller than a mini triathlon.
easy as pie (except the running I am a horrible runner).
I loved the water, but I am a swimmer. It was a hot mess. There were girls trying out for varsity spots (how we placed was where we were in lanes during practice). There were elbows and kicking each other.
It was fun and I felt really accomplished after.
I did the Danskin sprint-distance tri last year. They start you in waves for the swim. I didn't think it was bad. I think I got midly kicked once, that was it. For my race, they started a wave every 3 minutes.
Good luck, and have fun! I actually cried when I finished last year. I went from not being able to run 1/4 of a mile w/out stopping to completing that race. It felt so empowering and makes you want to do more!
Did you get my post about knee surgery?
