Sydney was like that. She never stopped moving it seemed! Towards the end it got VERY painful too. I'm pretty sure, as long as things are moving, you're good to go.
My Dr. said that "too much" was only a concern when there was a sudden rush of movement followed by immediate calm that lasted for a period and wouldn't respond to rubs/pokes/prods. The rush of movement could be a symptom of panic from the baby if there is distress. But prolonged movement shouldn't be an issue.
Mom to J (10), L (4), and baby #3 arriving in July of 2015
That happened to me last week at my 38 wk appt ... she was moving like crazy and it was painful! Her h/r was up to 190 and I ended up on the monitors to see what was going on ... she was just very very active. My OB said that babies that are not doing well are not active. Oh, and I didn't eat/drink anything unusual either.
Thanks for the input ladies. It was very typical movement (hiccups, stretching, etc.) but just for an unusual length of time. Things have calmed down an I'll pay attention at it's usual time (bedtime!). I'll call if that test is no good. It is getting uncomfortable though. Like one good stretch an my ribs might break!
Re: how much fetal movement is too much?
I didn't know there was a "too much."
I was induced because Jake stopped moving...so, any movement is good in my book.
I'm sure your tummy and ribs don't agree with me though.
