I made six medical appointments today

Nora's first dentist appointment, her three-year checkup, an eye exam for me, Miles' two-month checkup, a geneticist appointment and his pediatric opthalmologist appointment.

I know our health insurance won't run out at the end of this month, but my company's plan isn't as good as the one we have now and COBRA will likely be more expensive if we choose to go that route. So I'm trying to get everything we can out of the way while we still have this good policy.

We are going to have one busy month.?

  • Wow!  That is a lot!  Is Miles sleeping better tonight?
  • I think we just got a memo or something at work that COBRA has to be supplemented 65% for people who were terminated without cause.  Hopefully it won't be as bad as you think.

Yes. He had a better afternoon overall, so that's good. He's now sleeping, hopefully for a good stretch. I gave him his first dose of the Prilosec tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed!?

Yeah!! DH got something about that with his severance package information I'm hoping it won't be that bad because we really love this insurance and don't want to lose it if we don't have to right now.?

  • Fingers crossed!

I remember the first day I gave Olivia Zantac, the next day she took a 3 hour nap!  Before that she was only sleeping for 30 min at a time.  I was so excited.  Unfortunately, it was a fluke and she went back to the 30 min naps... sigh.  I really hope the prilosec does the trick, for you and Miles.

  • Hope I'm not stepping on your toes but have you considered appying for Medicaid for Miles. He should qualify due to his special needs. You can apply online at ssi.gov. It probably doesn't matter much now because there isn't much difference b/w a special needs infant and a typical infant but later on having medicaid ( in addition to your regular insurance) will help pay for copays for physical/occupational/ and speech therapy. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. mkkurrass@yahoo.com, or you can page me.

Thanks!! We actually are going to apply for state medical assistance due to Miles' disability, but I need to fill out the application and get the process going. I've heard it can take a while!?

It can take quite a while and you really have to stay on them to get approved.  We qualified because DS was so early and it took us calling them constantly to get them to get the paperwork done.
