Good gift for friend having twins?

What would you ladies recommend for a new mom expecting twins?  She's expecting them late July to mid August, they think boy/girl but aren't sure about the girl.  Her shower is in a few weeks and I want to get something that will be really helpful.  Most of the stuff on her registries is decor.

Anything that you couldn't have lived w/out or wish you hadn't spent the money on?  We're looking to spend $100 or less.

TIA!

Re: Good gift for friend having twins?

  • by far my best purchase was a jansport trans backpack ($35 at target) I own 4 diaper bags and this is the only one I use.  This way my hands are free and I have different pockets for food stuff, butt stuff, personal stuff and little stuff.  I have had formula cans explode (backpack dropped and slammed going through security at the airport) and the fact that I only had to clean one pocket was a lifesaver .

  • Is it possible that she has all of the gear she needs already and that's why it's not on the registry?  I know we've been able to buy a lot of things second hand (strollers, swing, etc.).

I haven't had my twins yet, but am guessing she could always use onesies (maybe in a little bigger size as people tend to all buy little ones) Or you could always put together a gift basket with necessities such as baby shampoo, lotion, diaper rash cream, wipes, diapers.  Stuff that isn't specific to twins, but that she may not have as much time to run out and refill after they arrive.

Another gift my SIL received as a shower gift that I thought was a nice idea was a gift card for a photo shoot and prints from a local portrait studio.

  • Good ideas, thanks ladies!

That may be the case about the decor - I know she has cribs, dressers, car seats, pnp, a swing, and a bouncy seat.  She's on bedrest and had to do her registry online, so that may be part of it too.

  • Maybe a twin nursing pillow? Most of the places that have registries don't have this option. But I would check first because it is a presumptive gift. Someone did that for me and I really appreciated it.

  • I would suggest getting 2 boppy pillows.  Having 2 was a lifesave when they were newborn, and we still use these all the time. My boys love to lay on their boppy for snuggle time or snack time.  Another practical recommendation is two of the Ultimate Crib Sheets.  Such a timesaver when one of the babies has an "accident" - you don't need to change sheets in the night, just whip off the UCS and you have fresh sheets underneath ready to go!
  • Alot of the items people can really use aren't things you can register for.  I always appreciate gift cards to portrait studios as a previous poster mentioned.  I have given this gift at many showers and it has been very much appreciated by the recipients.

How about meals from Dinners Ready or any of the meal prep places?  It's a really helpful gift and come in very useful after the babies are here.

Diapers in sizes other than newborn. You almost can't have too many.

I know I received so many baby clothes in sizes newborn and 0-3 that I had to give some away.  I got most of my gear through baby sales and my previous DS that people didn't know what to buy.

  • Gift cards too so she can get neccessities after they are born. Boppy pillows are also great.

You can also offer to bring meals after the babies are born. I had some friends bring us meals and it was so great, esp bc I had a c section.

This!   We have two boppys and they are wonderful.   We still use them all the time.   I even use it for myself : )
