How is the Miles' reflux doing?
I keep thinking about you. DD had reflux really bad, we ended up in ER in a small town after she started spitting up blood when we were on our way to visit our family (she was 5 months old). I was so freaked out.
She went on zantac, which helped the irritation (I think) but not the spitting up.
I am not sure if Miles has the same issues (I know you mentioned some other eating issues) but I just wanted to tell you about DD in case Miles started spitting up blood. (I had an entire burp cloth with streaks of blood).
Anyway, I hope that they can find the right meds for him. It is exhausting to have to deal with all the spitting up. I counted once and DD spit up 35 times in one day.
Re: **Cooker**
I've actually put in a call with our pedi about it today. He had a pretty awful weekend and I just can't take it anymore.
Our doctor seems reluctant to switch meds, saying they're all basically the same, but many other mothers on here and IRL have told me Zantac (which Miles has been on for four weeks now) didn't work for their DCs and to try Prevacid or Prilosec.
Obviously, Zantac is not working and we need to try something different. I can't take another couple days like this past weekend!!?

Is he spitting up a lot? Zantac doesn't stop that, it only reduces the acid in the stomach.
I always worry that the zantac didn't do enough for DD, I think that is why she should wake up so much during the night to nurse, even at 1 yo.
I hope some other meds help him. He is such a cutie
Butting in...yep Zantac only helps reduce the pain of the spit up but does not actually stop the spit up. Here's what I have learned with two kiddos that had bad reflux. The problem is with the muscle between the stomach and the esophagus is not developed and does not close like it should and therefore the stomach acid/formula/BM comes back up. They will outgrow this as the muscle gets stronger the spit stops. Have you asked about Reglan? Reglan - also does stop the spitting up but does help move the stomach contents into teh intestines quicker, therefore having less food in teh stomach = less spit up = less irritation. It does have its side effects, most common is diarrhea, but the dose can be adjusted to lessen that.
Sorry to hear he is so uncomfortable. My DD#1 had it so bad she would scream in pain and then I cried, too. I hope your pedi will try something else for him.
