Question about heartbeat sound on doppler

I've had a doppler since about 15 weeks and up until this week the heartbeat sound I've heard is a "swooshing" sound. The last few times this week that I've listened, I've heard that same swooshing noise in some places but I also hear a gallop/clicking noise in other areas. Is this normal? The heartrate is still 130's-140's, where it's been for a while, and he is still very active. Just wondering if anyone else has heard noises like this and if they're normal or not...

I think as the baby starts to move more, you'll hear odd sounds as a result of that - I hear lots of sounds like a finger tapping a microphone - and when I started feeling kicks I realized that that was the baby kicking at the doppler (awesome, huh?)

  • I remember thinking the samethig when I heard the galloping for the first time... yes completely normal, it just the way the hb sounds is reflected off of the placenta...I asked my ob.
  • I hear so many different noises. I think a lot of it depends on where DC is positioned.  His hb sounds different all the time.

I just posted about this the other day. I think the heartbeat starts to sound different as it gets stronger and you get farther along. And yes, some of it is little kicks, too, I've heard those since like 13 weeks!

Really you should be listening for the fast galloping sound.......the swooshing is more from the placenta!
