Trying to Get Pregnant

People really are rude!

So I was at Walmart this morning doing a little shopping...and decided to pick up a box of pregnancy tests since we just started TTC. As I was checking out, the cashier starting laughing and said "uh oh" (loud enough for everyone behind me to hear) and gave me a weird look... I didn't say anything, but then she asked me if I was trying to have a baby, I shook my head yes with a smile, even though it wasn't any of her business. She then said (exact words) "them babies are expensive"...I agreed, and I thought that was the end of the conversation, but she then proceeded to tell me that anybody trying to have a baby in this economy is absolutely crazy and just plain stupid!! Wow...I didn't know what to say at this point. This was my first time experiencing something like that. I've read a few other stories on here and just can't believe how rude, nosey, and mean people can be!!

Re: People really are rude!

  • Tell me you turned her into her manager. That is so uncalled for, she has no reason to say ANYTHING to you other than, Hi, Did you find everything today? and your total is. She is way out of line talking to you like that. I would call immediately if you didn't.

  • You should have told her you were independently wealthy and never have to worry about money. ?Seriously, that is so obnoxious. ?I don't understand why people feel they have the right to make comments like that!

  • I would have made a comment that anyone rude enough to call a customer stupid must not want to keep thier job and in this economy well that's just stupid and then gave her a really nasty look.

That's ridiculous.  I would have asked to speak to a manager.  She shouldn't make any comments on your purchases.  Especially rude and insensitive ones.  I know it is easier said then done in the moment, so I'm sorry you had to deal with that!
  • I think I was so in shock and caught off guard that I didn't know what to say or do, so I just picked up my bags and left, but I am going to make a phone call... because that made me feel very, very uncomfortable...especially since we just started trying!! Thank you guys for the feedback!
  • i'm sorry. people suck.

  • The last time I bought a bunch of HPT at the $ store, the young guy that rang me up smiled and asked me, "Good news or bad news?".  I told him "Great news!".  He just smiled and said, "Ok good luck to you then."

  • she is a rude dumb biitch. Don't worry about her because you my dear are prepared in this economy while she is obviously bitter about whatever her problem is.
  • My response would have been "Yeah good thing I don't work at Walmart and can afford to have a baby!" I personally wouldn't turn her in, instead I'd make her feel like the ars she was acting like!
  • I hear ya sister! I was at my walmart last night, i bought a 3 pack of tests since i can test in about a week. And as loud as they could they yelled " MARTHA!!! OVER TO THE PREGNANCY CASE!! Than "martha" proceeds to ask what i want, comment on my getting a 3 pack and tells me that she hopes i get the answer i am looking for. I mean since when did that become okay? When i buy tampons the cashier dosen't say " man, looks like a heavy flow this month
    .. wtf..

Exactly!!!! That's like buying condoms and the cashier saying "I know who is getting it on tonight"...but for some reason, they feel the need to comment on pregnancy tests! I just don't understand the audacity of some people!

  • Well, to be fair, it was Wal-Mart :)

I bought 10 from the $ store last week and the cashier looked so uncomfortable, lol.
