what to do when it's hot out?

i want to get out and enjoy this nice weather, but i worry about DD being in her stroller. i worry that she'll over heat since she's all enclosed in the stroller.  but then, i thought about putting her in the carrier with a hat, but then her arms and legs are exposed to the sun. 

how do you do it?  thoughts?

I wonder the same thing..once it gets hot here I'm not sure what the best thing to do with DD is.....I'll be anxious to see what people think.

I've been to Ohio, it doesn't get hot. Heat shouldn't be an issue in the 70's and 80's. Just keep her skin out of the sun. Hat, longsleeve loose clothing. California Baby does make a chemical free sunscreen.

girl, we get 100% humidity in ohio!  lol!!

I would dress your LO in really light clothing (like just a onesie) and go out in the stroller.  A little bit of sweat isn't going to hurt anyone, but sunburn to arms/legs will definitely hurt!!!!!

You could even bring an extra onesie or two just in case the first one gets sweaty. And make sure when you are out that you occasionally take your LO out of the stroller to air out and stretch!  It should be fine.

LOL at Ohio not getting hot! We get crazy humidity here in STL too, and it can be miserable. How shaded is your LO in the stroller? As long as DS is in the shade in the stroller, I'll dress him in a onesie and off we go. We do have a stroller that can be reversed, so if he gets into the sun I flip the handle and turn him the other way. You could also try covering her with a light (like Aden & Anais) blanket if you can't get her completely out of the sun. I wouldn't go the sunscreen route yet. We took DS out in his stroller on a really hot day, and he stayed pretty comfortable (at least, his skin temp was fine and he didn't seem to care).

totally not the same as living here. I've lived in Nebraska with 101 degree temps and its still hotter here due to high humidity and no wind

Seriously, we go up to Ohio every summer and it's like spring time down here. The weather is NICE, not hot. My city has the climate of a third world country.

If your worried about the heat dress her in light clothes and a hat, maybe spritz her with a little bit of water once in a while

I would worry more about the UV index. That'll tell you how long you should stay outside for. Like her for instance, the UV index is at a 9 today so, my little dude can't be outside for more than 10 minutes without getting burned.

I'll see your hot/humidity and raise you overcast winters that vary between snow to just yuck and seasonal allergies for the only months of the year with sun!

I don't even pretend to know what cold is, only what hot is, and it isn't in Ohio, especially in late May and early June.

I always wear kiddo - he wears a sunhat and babylegs if we are going to be out in the sun (his arms are in the wrap).  I think he's much cooler in my wrap than he would be in a stroller.

ETA:  I'm a southern mama so we know all about heat and humidity   The picture of him on my back was taken yesterday before our walk (I'm even further south at the moment visiting my parents in Mobile - talk about humid!).  He was fine and slept most of the time.
