Rash after MMR & Chicken pox vaccine

DD had the shot last week. The Dr. mentioned that this could happen, but I still don't like it. If your DS or DD had this reaction, how long did it last and did you do anything?

Re: Rash after MMR & Chicken pox vaccine

  • DD got a slight case of chicken pox (just her diaper area) 10 days after the vac. There wasn't much I could do but giver her tylenol (she had a low grade fever) and change her diaper more frequently. It lasted about 3 days.

  • DS just had the MMR vaccine.  9 days later, he had a fever that lasted about a day and a half, but it wasn't very high.  Maybe a day or so after the fever started, he broke out in a rash that was probably gone within 5 days.  It didn't bother him at all and was mainly on his trunk.
  • I'm glad you posted this. We just had our vax on Wednesday and I'm anxiously hoping we dont' see a reaction next week. I'm happy to read the general tone in the responses is not one of panic!! lol
  • Thanks for your replies. She does have a low grade fever, but truly seems to be feeling fine. The rash is on her hip, right when the diaper goes. Hopefully it will start to fade soon.
