Just made my mirena appt...

I'm a little nervous, but it seems like a way better option than regular birth control pills.

ETA: the best part is that I only have to pay my office visit copay, which is $15.  So for $15 I will be all set with birth control for up to 5 years.  haha...that's only .008 cents a day.

  • I liked mine, and plan on getting one again.

ETA- be sure to take a dose of ibuprofin about 30min before you go in. That'll help a lot with the pain and cramping. :)

  • All I had was a copay too, can't beat it!

Sadly I had to have mine removed only 7 weeks after having it inserted, I really wished it had worked out for me ;(. I hope it works for you.?
  • Nice!  I wish mine had only cost $15!  I got it last week and so far, so good.  Didn't hurt going in and was crampy afterward.  But, I've had none of the spotting that I've heard about, which is great!  It is so nice not to think about it every day!

Did you just schedule an appointment to get one?  Or did you go in for some sort of consult first?  This is likely the route I'll go but not sure where to even start!  I definitely have some questions for the doc before I jump into the decision.  I feel like I need more info before I decide.

I had my 6-week postpartum visit yesterday and we talked about it.  She gave me a pamphlet about it, and I called my insurance to make sure they'd cover it.  I have to have bloodwork to confirm I'm not pg (please...it would have to be an immaculate conception at this point!!) and then my appointment is June 25.  It seems like a great option since we aren't planning on having another child any time soon, if at all.  Less hormones than traditional pills, nothing to worry about taking every single day, the chance of not having a period at all...hopefully it works out!
