    Not necessarily.  I had preterm labor for three weeks with my last baby.  The BH felt like the real thing (menstrual cramps). 

    I know that doesn't help much.  Sorry.

    I didn't.  OB had to tell me I was in labor.  Twice.

    I did, but my water had broken and my contractions were HARD.

    For me, early labor felt like way more intense BH, but it progressed and got much stronger and that's how I knew it was real labor.

    Nope.  I thought I was having BH when I was in labor with DS.  I didn't have any pain until after the doc broke my water.  I thought it was BH again with DD, but I figured out it was labor eventually.  Il amost had her on the side of the road because of it!

    I was convinced that I had BH until my husband forced me to go to the hospital. 

    They checked me and I was 7cm dilated.

    You don't always know the difference.
