Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

when do you stop calculating birth age/due date?

My son was born 5 weeks early...At the beginning we adjusted his age when measuring milestones.  When do you stop adjusting?  We don't really anymore but I'm wondering if it matters when measuring still?

Re: when do you stop calculating birth age/due date?

  • I stopped adjusting DS' age when he was around 6 months.  That's when he really started catching up and the pedi said we didn't really need to do that anymore.  He still doing all his milestones on the later end of the normal range, but at his actual age.  And he's completely caught up with his size.

  • DS was born over 4 weeks early.  He was very behind at first and they adjusted 8 weeks. He caught up at 6 months and we stopped adjusting.

  • We stopped adjusting at 11 months when she started crawling. She was caught up in every aspect except gross motor skills. Now, she is perfectly fine and it reaching her milestones for her actual age. No delays.
