Installing rear facing convertible car seat.

So we bought my daughter a convertible car seat but since she is a peanut and is not yet twenty pounds she needs to be rear facing ( would like her rear facing until the car seat allows) but I have bucket seats and the seat is completely upright even in its recline position.  Do they make a wedge or anything to level out the seat or you have to do this yourself?

Re: Installing rear facing convertible car seat.

  • Does it just not fit in your car? Is it too big?

  • Yes, they make stuff but the most common thing is one of those swimming noodles. If you have the Fire Dept. install it for you, they'll most likely give you one right there.

  • What carseat did you buy? When we were installing ours it said that if you needed to, you could roll up a towel and put it under the front to make it recline more.
  • I know my Britax says to use a cut to size pool noodle or rolled towel to help with that. I know they sells specifically designed items for that problem but I would try the noodle first.
  • I think they have noodle type things you can buy for it. Also to get it in nice and tight kneel into the seat while buckling it in.

  • The fire department cut a pool noodle to make ours recline more but still stay level. You can do the same--it goes under the front of the carseat against the back of vehicle seat--or you can buy a premade one in the aisles where you'd find baby mirrors and such.

  • I forget the name of the seat, its not that its to big its that I have deep seats.  I am going to pick up a noodle tonight and try that first.
