I've noticed for some time now that DS has some dry skin behind his ears. I haven't really done anything about it because I've always seemed to have the same thing and it doesn't seem to bother DS. I noticed the other day that he has some on the inside top of his ears as well. I'm wondering how common this is and what I should be doing about it (if anything). I haven't tried putting Aquaphor on it yet, which has helped other dry skin patches he's had. Should I somehow be scrubbing those areas harder? I've never done too much to really clean the inside of his ears besides a quick washing during his baths and with Qtips after most baths. When I mentioned the dry skin behind his ears to DH, he told me that he remembers having some issue with his ears when he was young that required some sort of special cream, which I've been meaning to ask his mom about.
Re: Dry skin in/behind ears
i thought ds had dry skin around the oustide of his ear (where it meets his head) and had been using a&d and aquaphor, and scrubbing it during baths. his pedi told me its almost like cradle cap and that hydrocortison cream would clear it up. ive done it a few times and its almost gone.
My daughter has that as well, just noticed it the other day while cleaning her earrings. It almost looks like cradle crap like above mentioned. I was wondering as well what to do for her, it's not bothering her, but it looks like dry crusted scales, and its a very small patch. Will try the hydrocortison to see if it goes away.
