waking up startled..

My son started this new thing where he will be sleeping and then all of a sudden he will jump and start crying! Its sad... as soon as I pick him up he stops... seems almost like a bad dream???

    ya its normal my DD farted in her sleep and it woke her up...She jumped so high!!!!!!!!!!

    DD does this too.  Either babies really do have bad dreams or it's some sort of painful gas.  It breaks my heart every time!  That sad cry just gets me so bad.
