Tick Alert!

On Memorial Day, DD and DH were playing in the backyard and DH comes inside and says what's this....pointing a black spot on DD's leg and an hour later we were at the pedi's office! She took a scooper like utensil and scooped the tick out. They said they don't test for Lyme's disease on the tick. If she developed a fever or the bullseye rash, we have to go back. If we want we can have a blood test in 6-8 weeks. The tick was about the size of this:   *

Be sure to check your babies...espeically their hair!

Re: Tick Alert!

  • We went on vaca 2 weeks ago and my 9 y/o came up to me and said there was a leach on his balls(yes I said it!).  We didnt belive him and while we were out eating all of a sudden he starts jumping and saying it was biting him!  When we got back to the cabin I checked and sure enough there was a tick not a leach on his balls.  We called him TOB the rest of the trip.  I know its mean, but it was funny.  Oh and you should have heard him when I opulled the tweezers and lighter out!  Of course I didnt use the lighter though!

And that was about how big our tick was to. *

But when I was nursing I had one on my boob and freaked thinking Jeremiah had eat one while nursing! lol

  • Yeah, Ben had one on him last week on the back of his knee.  It came off really easily and I've been watching it (no lingering mark).  He had one last June too...and we wound up at the pedi for that one.  It was in his ear.  :(
  • avon sells a skin so soft product that repels ticks..we just bought some
  • ticks have to be attached to the body for 48 hours to transmit lyme disease. ?I hope your DD is doing fine. ?We are finding bunches here in NE too
