I'm a Jazzercise instructor, and I'm finding it hard to teach good classes and not overwork myself! I don't want to tell my students that I'm pregnant yet, so they're probably wondering why I'm being a lazy instructor. I've been wearing my HR monitor to try to watch how I'm working and feeling, but it's just hard to take it down a notch. I know lots of instructors that have taught through almost their whole pregnancy, and I have NO IDEA how they do it! I just worry that I'm working too hard.
Anyone else teach exercise classes and can relate? Just curious...
Re: Anyone teach exercise classes?
I can relate! I told my class at 12 weeks, but I felt the same way before that - like they probably thought I was being super lazy. I teach cardio kick and a strength class back to back. In Cardio kick, I was getting winded by the time we were warmed up! I either do a low intensity version of the exercise, or I get them going and just coach without participating. I do that off an on throughout the class, so it's been working well so far. And now that they all know, they are super understanding about it and will work hard without me doing it, too. (they won't even let me put my equipment away! I get my music out, put the mic up and come back and they've already put my stuff away!)
Just do as much as your body will let you and your doctor approves. It's hard to remember week to week, but I think the cardio kick is actually easier for me now than it was earlier on as far as being out of breath, but the strength stuff is getting harder (mainly for some of the lying positions). Good luck!
