Prometrium - orally vs vaginally

I've only ever taken it orally.  Now my doctor has prescribed it vaginally.  My progesterone levels are pretty good and this is only for peace of mind really so I think I may just want to take it orally.  Or at least orally in the morning and vaginally at night. 

My question is this:  Does anyone know if they pill is the same pill either way.  The one he prescribed to be taken vaginally looks the same as the oral I took of the same dose so can I just take it that way?  I tried to look online but can't find the info.  I'll call the office if I need to but was trying to just find it on my own.    I'm 90% sure it's the same...

It is indeed the same pill and can be taken either way... I have done both in the past. I think some doctors believe it to be more effective when taken vaginally and s/e are lessened.

Since your levels are fine, you could just take it orally.  I didn't find the s/e to be too bad.  Or I like your idea about oral in the AM and vaginal in the PM.

And yes, they are the same pills.

Thanks!!   I've taken 600 mg a day before orally and it really made me tired and sometimes dizzy.  But since I'm only on 400mg I'm hoping I can deal with it.  I guess if it gets to be too much with the girls to care for I'll give vaginally a try but if not orally should be fine. 

My Progesterone was tested 3 times.  First was 42.6, then 31.5, then 28.8.  The doctor said he was not at all worried but the falling number combined with the off and on spotting worried me enough that he agreed to prescribe it just to ease my mind.

I'm taking it orally but my levels have never dipped out of the "normal" range so maybe that's why. I'm only on 300 mg a day so I take 1 in the AM and 2 at night and it seems ok so far. I've noticed it (or maybe just being pg again) is making me a little more tired than usual.
