Security Blanket?

My baby girl very unexpectedly formed an attachment to a certain blanket.  She will not sleep or nap without it at all.  She doesn't drag it around with her, but that's because we keep it in the crib.  It's crazy how much she NEEDS this blanket.

Anyone else have a similar story?

  • yeah, but it was intentional. We kept it with him to try & help him form a bond w/ it. Makes it easier for him to sleep.

Yep, we have a blankie-aholic, too.  DS would nap and go to bed at night with his blankie but, he got sick last month and, now he won't part with it.  He drags it around the house like Linus from the Peanuts!  If we put it in his crib, he goes and gets it, or cries if he can't get it out from between the crib slats.

Thank God we have an extra one, because he only wants THAT blankie.  So now I alternate them so I can keep one relatively clean.

  • Yes, but its a stuffed puppy. He sucks on the ears or snout or tail or whatever while he's falling asleep. It's so grungy now.

It had a small hole in the neck, and when I washed it, the head completely fell off. I freaked because I decapitated his lovey. I stitched his head back on and dubbed him Frankenpup.

  • My DS is a little linus :) He has been since he was about 3 months old. We actually have 3 of the same blankets that we just rotate out so they can always be clean. He will not sleep without his blanket. I like it though because it helps him feel secure and sleep when we aren't home or he is staying over at grandmas without DH or myself.
  • Oh yes! ?We have a stuffed doggy. ?It is such an intense love affair that "doggy" comes EVERYWHERE with us! ?Yesterday we went to the pool. ?Doggy had to come IN the pool. ?Doggy has taken baths with her. ?It is a little crazy, but she does see doggy as a major comfort object, which I am happy about. ?Fortunately, we have three of the same stuffed dog, which allows us to rotate them.
