California supreme court...REALLY???

Has this been talked about yet today?  I am REALLY surprised, and super dissappointed.  As a Canadian we were always given the impression that California was more liberal than most states.  Guess not.

I just do. not. get. people who oppose gay marriage.  I understand (not agree) with the religious objection of some churches and I am not saying they should be forced to marry gay couples. But poeple are not married in a church all the time and they have no objection to that.  How is this different??

That is my rant for the day...

  • I totally agree with you and also am shocked by California.
  • Yea, I'm pretty embarrassed to be a native Californian today. I do not support Prop H8T, as it is referred to by many.

It makes me sick. I grew up in Southern California and love the state, but am thrilled to be a MA resident now - home to equal marriages for all since 2004.

I just find it incomprehensible that such a large segment of our population are such bigots. I am sure there are many people even on this board that don't support equal rights for gays. The next generation will be embarrassed by how we behaved in regards to this issue.

  • It makes me so sad for the country my girls call home. I really hope that by the time they are adults they can look back and wonder how we were so ignorant.  Here are a few other conversations from today:

  • This was disucssed at length yesterday.  Some of the people in California are more liberal than most people in other states but are still conservative (according to the vote).  The Surpreme Court of Appeals just held up what the people voted on.  The majority of Americans are conservative not liberal...according to what I just heard yesterday on the news.
