DS really wants to do puzzles and use his shape sorting toys.  He can't quite figure out how to turn the pieces the correct way to get them to fit though.  He tries once, then starts throwing pieces in frustration.  If I attempt to help him in any way, he screams and cries.

Any idea when determination and patience set in?

Oh poor thing... every tot is different.  My son has that patience but can't speak a word hardly.  Don't help him, when he is ready he will do it

Sounds a lot like my little guy...maybe its a boy thing! lol

I am trying to teach him to calm down and say "help please" and I will say it and immediately go and help him.

My DS is the same way with no sign of changing! Or he'll get frustrated and hand the toy to me to put in the puzzle or whatever. I hope he learns some patience soon. Since he can't talk, it's very frustrating for all of us!

still impatient here at 19 months!  i think it's just her personality -- daycare says she's quite the firecracker compared to some of the more laid back kids.

Wait...we are supposed to do shape sorters?  Mine says 18months plus and it's in the closet.

 

No wonder my kid doesn't do anything...

He does stack cups though!

We got the shape sorter as a hand-me-down, so I didn't know the age range for it.  DS has been playing with it since he was 3ish months old.  Back then, he just liked to hold the shapes.  Now, he's actually trying to fit them into the holes.  If it's an 18+ month toy, that would explain why he's so frustrated!
