Advice on giving anitbiotics

I know this is asked all of the time - but I can't get the search function to work. ?

DD now has a double ear infection and we need to give antibiotics again. ?It has been a while since her last one and her will to avoid taking it at all costs has gotten even stronger. ?Any good techniques for giving them? ?She just spits it out immediately. DH is around, so any tag team suggestions helpful too. ?TIA!?

Re: Advice on giving anitbiotics

  • We always have DD's antibiotics flavored at the pharmacy. Walgreens charges like $2 to have it flavored and they have like 50 options to choose from - even chocolate. I think Target might even flavor for free.

    Good luck!

  • I just hold him down and shoot a bunch in. no real trick to it, and it seems to get better as the days go on and he gets used to it. We have also put it in the side while he is nursing.
  • At one point my son was taking an antibiotic that was so awful he'd vomit as soon as he'd take it. We hid it in his food.

  • I usually sneak it in when he's eating.  I squirt it into the back of his cheek with a syringe.  We do get it flavored to but usually the amoxicillin still tastes gross to him.
