Maybe TMI ? abt yearly appointment

I have my yearly appointment tomorrow with my OBGYN.  I'm also on my period.  I called to see if I could get it changed but, they told me it would be
September before I could get in if I cancelled.  Anyone go during that time of the month and were you or your dr mortified that you came anyway?

I'm also going to ask for some Clomid so, really don't want to wait until Sept.

Would wait to Sept if you were on your period or just go ahead and go?

  • I have gone.  Sometimes they have a hard time reading a the pap though.  I would keep the appt.

  • Just go.  It will be fine, and the exam part is so short anyways.  Just mention it when you get there so that if it is a problem they can deal with it then.
  • I would just go.

If your OB/GYN is mortified by dealing with a menstruating woman then you need to find a new OB/GYN, kwim?

  • I rescheduled my last appointment for that very reason- I was irregular from nursing and got it the day before. I called and say, "I think I should reschedule, I just started my period today" and the nurse said, "Yep, let's reschedule." I'm sure it's nothing new to them and if you can't get in for months I would try to keep the appointment...you know they've seen worse!!
  • This happened to me once; I just went.  It was a little embarrassing for me at first, but my doctor was completely unfazed.

  • I'd keep the appointment and just give my doctor a head's up. I would hope it wouldn't be a big deal for them.

I just dealt with this with my physical, but was able to have an appointment for a pap the next week.

I'd go. Just let them know ahead of time.

  • It wasn't for my yearly, but when I was on Clomid before, I had to call the first day that I got my period, I would go in and they would scan me to check for cysts, before they would precribe it for me.  It was a little uncomfortable having an internal u/s while having cramps, but the dr. didn't seemes phased by it.

  • I had to go in on the first day I got my period the whole time I was on Clomid, so I've had lots of exams while bleeding. If you think you need Clomid, you may need to get used to this!

  • I haven't gone while on my period but I know that some doctors don't mind. If you were told it's okay, definitely go!
