Trying to Get Pregnant

TMI question re: CM

Sorry for the gross question, but I'm curious if thick cm could mean a possible pregnancy?  I don't remember having this with my son, but I'm on CD23 and it's very thick, which isn't normal for me.  But, then again, I don't have regular periods or ovulate that often, so I'm not sure its fair to say it's not the norm for me.

I can't decide when to test ... I'm trying to hold out for CD28, but it's so hard!  When do you ladies recommend testing?

Re: TMI question re: CM

  • Do you have a chart we can look at?
  • Loading the player...
  • Do you mean thick and creamy or thick like eggwhite?  If it's thick like eggwhite, then you're probably just now getting ready to O.

When would you expect your period?  I'd wait and test one day after that.  GL!

  • FYI: generally, CM related posts are not considered TMI

you cannot tell if you're pg by CM.

how do you know you ovulated especially if you say you don't ovulate that often?

  • While a lot of women do report thick, creamy CM before a BFP- it doesn't necessarily mean that you are KU, lots of girls get it and end up with a BFN.  If you want to test, then test as long as you don't mind seeing a BFN if it's too early.  It would be helpful if we could see your chart!

CM is not TMI here, we talk about it all the time! :)

If you are not regular I can't even begin to tell you when to test.  If you don't get your BFP at least you will know that having that type of CM is not an indication of pregnancy (necessarily) for next time.

This exactly. I am one of those girls that has CM all cycle long.

  • it's thick and creamy ... like lotion.  Has been for about 2 days now.  I had eggwhite cm around day 12/13.

I didn't chart this time - it's our first month on clomid and i decided not to do it.  I'm wishing I had now, but too late.

I guess I dont know 100% that I ovulated, but the doctor checked my progesterone and did an ultrasound and said all indications are that I ovulated.  I had an u/s on day 18 and there was no egg, so he thinks I had already ovulated by then.

I'm not very optimistic about this cycle b/c we missed day 14 and 16 due to an impromptu business trip...but we did BD on days 10, 11, 12, 13 so I guess there is some hope.

Dumb question, but I should just wait to start charting until AF arrives, right?

  • also, should include that i got a positive OPK on day 12 ...
  • with all thos other indications and your doc telling you he thinks you o'ed I'd say that's a safe bet. but try to wait to test. Assuming you o'ed on cd 14, I would really try to wait until this weekend to test. do you know how long your average LP is?

with that said, I had thin lotion-y/creamy CM almost every day after ovulation last cycle and it didn't mean a thing. I never had that before and that was cycle 11 for me.

    **Don't Test Early!!**
  • I have no clue how long my LP is ... I will chart next month if i dont get a BFP this time so I will know.

I will wait until this weekend to take the test .. damn the 2ww!

  • oh and to answer your other questions, you can start charting your bbt whenever, but it won't mean anything to you until after AF starts, but you can get in the habit of taking your temp at the same time every morning.

    GL!
