Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If u were planning to move in 12 mos - would you try for DC #2?

We would like to move next summer.  We also might want to try for #2 to have them close in age, etc, etc.  all the reasons for close siblings...

Would you wait until you'd moved and settled, or would you just go about your TTC plans regardless of other plans?  We may not be able to move (if we can't sell our house) next year anyway.

  • I like to do things the really hard way, so my answer is yes.

We are also TTC and also planning on moving in the next 12 months.  GL!

  • I would go on with your plan of TTC. You never know how long (or quickly) it might take and you never know what might happen w/ a house and moving.

I have a friend who moved (from Canada nonetheless) w/ a 15 month old and a 2 month old!! She said it was hectic, but they did it. They had packers pack them and that helps a lot.

We're moving this week and decided to have packers pack us.. everything, mess included, they quoted us around $1500 to pack it all. Less if we (and we did) clean, organize and pack/move some stuff ourselves. That's for a 3200 sq ft home + 900 sq ft basement. So depending on the size of your house, it could be less (or more). That $ to us is sooooooo well spent and so worth it to do that. Sure, it's still stressful, but it's much more manageable. And if you plan in advance, you could save up for that too.

  • Yes, I would. Housing is still very unpredictable and you never know what will happen. Hopefully you WON'T be like us, but we've had our house on the market for close to 15 months...

  • yeah...we will probably be doing the same...moving and TTC....we can struggle alongside one another!
  • I'm not a big believer in planning for kids on a certain schedule. I'm more of a "we want more kids, so what happens, happens" kind of girl.

If I wanted more, I'd never put roadblocks in the way. You never know what will happen between now and when you think will be the best time.

We're TTC. Is it a perfectly ideal time? No. There are always reasons to wait. But nothing is certain. We don't know how long it will take to get pregnant again. There are no guarantees that nature will keep your schedule.

  • I would not wait for the reasons the PPers already mentioned.
  • All we did is put our plans on hold to move. We planned on getting out of AZ, but since we got pg with #2, we just put off our plans to move.  I wanted to have the same OB and at least the same pedi for the first few months.
  • Sure!  I moved pregnant and than did a HUGE move (cross country) when Harm was 6 mos.  It was a bit stressful but not horrendous.

  • YES!! TTC can be a fickle, heartbreaking thing, and I learned the hard way that nothing should stand in your way.  I am moving in 2 weeks! eep! and we were TTC #3 all the while.
