What kind of furniture did you buy for your baby?
With DS, we found out he was a boy at our big u/s and bought very gender specific furniture.
I don't mind neutral stuff, but if we have a girl this time around, I'd love to buy super girlie furniture (clear & ornate). But, we are not planning on finding out the gender this time (I want to keep it a surprise).
So I don't know what to do. DO I hold off buying furniture until after the baby is born, or just settle for something more neutral? I know I can accent with gender specific bedding and other stuff after the baby is born...
I am curious what others did who didn't find out the gender.
Re: If you didn't find out your baby's gender...
OMG - you're pregnant again?! Congratulations!
I haven't seen you around much lately. Hope things are going well.
We didn't find out what we were having, so we bought white furniture. It's not ornate or girly looking, so it could work for a boy or a girl.
My Sweet Girls
We used DH's childhood furniture ~ honey pine colored dresser and hutch (as a changing table) so we only had to buy a crib...selected honey pine and did the bedding in yellows and painted a sea blue/green.
The nursery has been girlied up with wall hangings and accents. I love that if (future) DC #2 is a boy all we have to do is switch out the easy stuff.
Gender specific furnitire? What?!
We have pine furniture in both girls room but never found out their genders.
Why would you buy 2 sets of nursery furniture. I just bought a dark cherry (in bio) set that would do for both.
I added a chandelier & accents to the room. But I have no intention of buying new furniture for #2. And we won't find out the gender of the next.
We did white furniture, yellow walls, and gender neutral bedding (an alphabet, primary color theme). I wanted to have the nursery set up, so we went totally neutral, which I loved.
If you want to really girly it up, you could always get more neutral bigger stuff and then get two bedding sets and wait to paint or add accent colors until the baby is here... as long as the furniture is set up, the other stuff isn't too much of a hassle (especially if the baby is in your room for a while at the beginning)
Congrats!
