Baby Names

A quote from DH...

Its a good think we have a lot of time (since I'm not pregnant yet) because this is what I'm up against:

Me: "I really like the name Charlotte."

DH: "Charlotte???? Seriously?"

Me: "Yeah, what's wrong with Charlotte? Its beautiful and classic."

DH: "I've never even heard of that as a name! I mean, I like unique names, but not something off the wall like Charlotte."

Oh brother!

  • Ha! I guess I should be happy that my DH just says he likes everything I like. I can't get him to come up with anything on his own.
  • OMG that is hilarious, where did he grow up?
  • lol!! My DH suggested Charlotte. I have to brag, haha. I'm lucky because we like the same kinds of names.?

  • Yeah, unfortunatly he is serious. He is from Memphis, but apparentally he grew up in a man-filled bubble. He just says that he can only think of it as a place.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

  • Has he never read Charlotte's Web before?
  • This is hilarious!  I am glad that there is someone else starting on the name hunt before they are pregnant.  DH and I are going to need all the time we can get to figure out names we agree on.

FWIW, I love the name Charlotte.

He actually did mention Charlotte's Web, and said that everyone would think we named our daughter after a pig because everyone hears Charlotte and thinks of a story about a pig.

  • Hehehe... I've had this same problem with DH.  He'd never heard of Emma as a name, despite the fact that it is currently the most popular girls' name out there!  Sometimes, given how much they don't know, I think men live in boxes.
  • Here's my conversation with DH about Charlotte.

Me: I think Charlotte is pretty. What do you think?

Him: Sounds like you said harlot.

    Me: So...you don't like then?

Him: No. I don't want my daughter's name to be misheard as "prostitute."

    *sigh*

    Blank!
  • Charlotte was the spider...would that help him? :)

If it makes you feel better, there are a ton of baby Charlotte's in the "Ham" right now. I've meet three in the last couple of months. I've always loved the name though.?

Haha! My husband and I had this exact conversation. He thinks Charlotte and harlot sound EXACTLY the same. Oh, well. :)

Dh actually liked Charlotte, but hates all the nicknames for it so we aren't considering it.?
  • My DH thinks Ava, Eva, Chase, Dylan, and Mason are just a few "crazy" names he has vetoed.
