anyone have a big (no-pump) pool?

It's bigger than a kiddie poool.  I think it's like 8' in diameter.  It doesn't need air, but it gets maybe 4' deep or so.

The reason I'm asking...it takes a lot of water, and I'm wondering how to keep it clean without draining the water, cleaning it and then refilling.  If I do that, our summer water bills will be astronomical. 

The little bitty kiddie pool I bought her last year had to be drained and wiped down 2-3 times a week, plus I used a little net to get stuff that fell in.  I just want to keep all that slimy funk-a-doo from growing on the sides.
