PIP of Luke & quick birth story

Trying to PIP some pictures of Luke. Hope this works!

Quick birth story. I checked into the hospital on Tuesday morning at 7am. I was still only 1cm dilated at that time. Pitocin was started at 7:30 and the doctor broke my water at 8am. Contractions really started picking up around 11 so I asked for the epidural and got it within an hour, thankfully! After the epi took effect they checked me and I had already gone to 8cm dilated. About 20-30 minutes later, I started feeling a lot of pressure and the nurse checked me again and said I was ready to push. I started pushing around 1:45 or so and Luke was born at 3:27pm. They said he would have come out a lot faster if he wasn't so big!

The doctor had started getting the vaccuum ready b/c they thought I wasn't going to be able to push him out on my own due to his size and the fact I was getting really tired. But I heard the doc say I was 3/4 of the way there and I grabbed the rest of my energy and pushed and out he came, finally! He was 8 pounds 12 oz at birth (so was my DH apparently) and 22 inches long, so he is a big boy! My DH was 23 inches long at birth so he is already just like his father. He does look just like DH. But he has my nose and we think he will have dimples just like me. I have seen them when he has been nursing.

BFing is going well so far, although it isn't easy. But I plan to keep it up as long as possible. We got home from the hospital on Thursday and our first few days have been great. I just love him so much already, it is unbelievable! And it is true what they say, nature really has a way of making you forget the pain of childbirth. It is already quite fuzzy for me and it has only been 5 days.

Congrats - he is adorable.

Trust me once you are less sleep deprived and the OMG I have a baby syndrome wears off you will remember...but if you dont, there are other reminders of -- or as I like to call them, methods of BC, like teething, injuries, illnesses, etc.
