Ergo users- tell me how you get it on

Not in the ::brown chicken brown cow:: kinda way ; )

I mean, how do you get your kiddo in the Ergo, especially when you are by yourself? ?K will not stand for the tummy to tummy, so back is the only way for us, but I am terrified to put him in there. ?I've almost dropped him a couple times. ?I have the most luck at home when I can sit on my couch and put him on my back, but that's not an option when I need to use the Ergo the most - when I'm out and about.

I remember hearing there's a way you can put them on your hip and then transfer them to your back. ?Anyone do this? I love the Ergo but find I hardly use it because it confuses me.?

  • Sorry I can't help you out, but I had to tell you that your "brown chicken brown cow" comment cracked me up!  I'm LMAO here!

  • We haven't used it yet when I'm alone with DS  so I'm not much help but, I'll bet you can find a video on youtube. I found lots of videos there that helped with moby wrap carries.

  • idk if this is how you are thinking, but there are lots of variations in the 'related videos' section.

personally, i just superman toss DD, but we've been doing that since she was 3 mos. it is a little nerve-wracking to learn but she loves it now! if she sees a wrap or carrier out she brings it to me and pats my back <3

  • We use the hip to back transfer. I did it a few times over the couch, then with a spotter until I was comfortable, before I attempted it out and about.

  • I think it just takes practice. I do it just like in the dvd that came with it. After trying it with help a few times I felt comfortable doing it on my own while out and about.
  • I hear you on this one.  The video makes it look so simple, but I find you have to be like Gumby to put it on....It's just impossible.   So, I only use the ERGO when I'm with my DH to help out.  I can manage to get her in if I carry her on the hip, but even that's hard, and I get confused with how the straps go.
