I was glancing at the tv and saw a guy named this (hubby was watching baseball). I said, what a terrible name "Hi I am Chone, the chode". DH said it is actually pronounced Sean. WTF? Why would you do that to your kid?

WTH - it's like people try too hard to make a name different/unique.  To spell it in a way that is nowhere near the phonetically correct way is just stupid.

Ditto. First one that comes to mind is Connery...you know, James Bond.

Maybe it's a Celtic/Welsh spelling? Like Eoin is the Irish/Celtic spelling for Owen.
