North Carolina Babies

Thanks for thinking of me!  I talked to my OB last week and he agreed that part of my issue was that baby B doesn't latch and so my breasts just aren't being completely drained.  I decided that I was going to use a nipple shield in an attempt to get him to latch.  My LC had advised me to not use one until my supply was established because it can cause you to lose some production.  I'm currently pumping 70+ ounces a day so I figured with what I have stored in the freezer, what he can nurse, and what I can still pump I would at a minimum be able to cover his needs.

He latched right away with the nipple shield.  I'm still pumping after he feeds and getting 6-8 ounces each time.  My right breast has been clog free so far.  My left breast has had 3-4 clogs but they aren't near as tough and can be massaged out in 1-2 pumping sessions as opposed to 24 hours of rubbing and pumping.  I think his latch is helping.

  • YAY!!  So glad DS is on the boob and helping you clear some clogs up.  And wow--70 ounces!!!  I never produced that much in a day.  So you'll be building a nice freezer stash so even if you decide to stop, DS will have plenty in the freezer for him.  Good job!!  Hoping you get all the way clear and stay clear!
