Babies on the Brain

My grandma called me ugly

It made my cry when I got home, but I am laughing about it now.

She doesn't speak a lot of English, but today she said "What is that red on your face?"   I said "My blush?",  She said, "No, the other things", I said, "That's my acne - from the baby".  She then proceeds to say as she pats my stomach "Baby, you are supposed to make her look beautiful, not ugly!"

::sigh::   Thanks Grandma!

  • awe, that stinks.  I am sure you look beautiful!  What is your grandmothers heritage?
    Not sure what direction we are headed. Either way, I am up for the ride.

    Mexican - and unfortunately, she has no filter lately!

  • Haha!  Hey, at least you have the baby to blame for your acne.  I just get to blame bad genetics which isn't nearly as rewarding after 9 months.
  • Grandmas say the darndest things!  lol

    My Great Grandmother spoke VERY little English and sometimes her translations of things made for awkward silence while we tried to figure out WTH she meant.  We often just smiled and nodded and moved on with the conversation.

  • This makes me laugh because my grandma always used to call me a "big girl" growing up... she'd buy me clothes that were too big and makes comments about how big i was (i was actually pretty average) It hurt my feeling a lot back then, but now I think it's funny and although I have not lost any weight last time I saw her she made a comment on how skinny I was... grandma's are funny!

  • awwww gotta love Grandma's way.

    My Grandma, God rest her soul, told me when I was a child that my name should be Mud because I was that worthless.

    Gotta love Grandmas.

  • Grandmas... ahh, we have to love them, though we don't have to always like them!

    They rarely have filters, I know mine didn't!
