I think it's both. I know a female Quinn in her twenties and I taught a male Quinn middle school student. I think it is one of the few names that really works for both genders.
In ancient Rome, it just referred to the 5th child born and had nothing to do with gender. I think that same neutrality applies today.
I love the name, and I like it for both a boy and a girl. I don't think anyone would look at a boy named Quinn and think "that's a girly name"! It's just so neutral.
I'm going to get a dog and name it Quinn. And have it fixed.

the first quinn i knew was a woman-who is now in her 30s. i now know 2 others and they are both girls. i think girl. quinten-now that makes me think boy
Quinn is my DH's middle name. We plan to use it for our second boy (if we have one). I would also use it for a girl though...probably only middle name for a girl though.
We're using a name that is popular for girls right now for our first boy, so whatever. It's what you like.
Boy. I had only ever known boy Quinn's until DS was born and it seemed like girl Quinns are popping up all over the place. Ironically, I did not want a unisex name, but I guess I got one.
I always thought it was a girl's name because I grew up with a girl named Quinn & then recently a friend named her boy that I found out it was more traditionally a boy name but it is definitely used both ways.
Re: Quinn - is it a boy or girl name?
What?? People use this name for girls???
It's definitely a boys name for me.

It was her surname though, her first name was Michaela... I know way too much about Dr Quinn.

I know one of each. I wouldn't exactly consider it a girls' name, as it's pretty well split down the middle... I'd say it's evenly unisex.
So, if you don't want your boy to have a unisex name, I'd avoid it.

We are concidering Quinlan for our boy. We would call him Quinn for short. So IMO its a boy name
