Membrane stripping questions inside

Who has had this done?  What is involved and does it hurt?  What week in pgcy did you have it done and do you have to wait until you're a certain number of cms dilated or certain % effaced?

I had it done at 40w 3d  with DD3.  It felt like an aggressive internal exam, but was nowhere near as bad as I've heard it described. I wasn't dilated or effaced.  My dr actually offered to do it at my 37 wk appt, but I declined.  In any case, it didn't work for me.  I ended up being induced a week later.

I had it done at 40w and 2d with #1. I was one cm dilated. To me, it hurt like hell. All it takes from you is to lay back and relax. My water broke 10 hours later.

With #2, I wanted them to do it but they said I had to be dilated for them to do it, I wasn't.

I had it done around 39 weeks with DS.  It didn't hurt at all, and I went into labor a day or two later.

I had it done with DD1 and it hurt like a beyotch!  I bled for hours and had to be monitored.  I did not go into labor within 24 hours, which is considered successful for that procedure.

With my second, there was no way I was going through that again, so I declined to have it done.

I had it done, it definitely hurt during and was in quite some pain there after.  I think I spotted.  I went into labor 2.5days later.  I had it done at my 39w appt.
