In the thank you note, do you say, thanks for the cash or thank for the check, or do you just say thanks for the thoughtful gift? For some reason people have sent me $$ in get well cards since my accident. I never know what to say, on birthdays or my wedding, I said thanks for the "gift", but since this is a different situation, I don't know how to address the money??

Re: When you receive $$ a gift??
SMS-that is what I do too, especially with the baby. But this seems so weird, I don't get why people send me cash or checks for running myself over!! It is nice though.
I'm sure people know that medical expenses are insane and that it may be hard for you to cook, clean, or do whatever right now. So they are sending cash so you can get a meal, get a babysitter, etc, without going broke.
Ditto SMS- I'd just say what you're spending it on. "Thanks so much for the thoughtful gift. DH and I are using it on a babysitter so that I can get some rest." Or whatever.
