Last week or the week before LukeandAmanda posted on 6-12 how she was
so broke that she couldn't afford food for herself. People offered
help and gave her lots of ideas to get help. She said they didn't
qualify for any aid and that her and her dh made too much $$. Okay.
Sounds totally sad and if this is tru my heart goes out to her. I know how hard it is to struggle to put food on the table. Been there, done that. It sucks a$$.
Then someone asked her if she was crafty at all and if she could
maybe make and sell something on Etsy. She then mentioned that she had
been making pillowcase dresses for her daughter. People started saying
they wanted one and the posts/PMs/e-mails started like crazy. PIPs of dresses and prices were discussed.
Then this week she posted her budget on MM (I didn't see it...but I
got a phone call asking me if I saw it) and there were MAJOR holes and
if what she posted was true there is NO way in heck she doesn't
qualify. I know for sure. We make and live on crap $$ and I know what help is available.
But the thing that really makes me wonder is in the sex before
marriage post she admitted that she isn't even married to her dh.
There is NO way she can't get help if things are that hard for her.
But she is working on getting her Etsy shop all set up and asked for help with getting a banner. I also recieved an e-mail today asking if she was the same person who needed help when she was on 0-6 and people sent formula and diapers. I do not know if this si true or not. I am also not saying that she is scamming. I'm just saying that things don't add up.
Doesn't her husband owe oodles in child support? I mean oodles?
That seemed to be why they didn't qualify.
Most agencies take into account how much you have to pay in child support. It is considered a living expense and they subtract that from the income when figuring things out. Again, I know about this because my dh has a child that we pay support for.

must agree. things smell fishy (pro pics in sig, all the crafty stuff) but i don't no her life. anyway, half her h's income goes to cs, so they make more, but have less to work with.

Ditto this. Something like half his income was going to child support. They were working to get it fixed.
I did see in a post where she said they weren't married. No idea what's up.
But I did suggest in her post on MM that she go down to WIC or make sure that she speaks to someone in person there and make sure they're well aware of what her true financial situation is and that she's not eating. I agree that there is no way in hell they shouldn't qualify based on what she posted.
This crap is why I never post on here anymore. I love mom related stuff, but this virtually clique stalking crap is insane. And we've all established that Hippy is going to boil everyone's bunny someday.

WTF are you?
And this is why I didn't want to post it. Because a$$phats like this think they have a clue about anything.
I think there's just too much searching on this topic. I think you're stretching it, Hippy. There might be a few things that don't add up to some people. Things are always so black & white. Not everyone that we expect should easily qualify for aid does. It's just not that simple.
Then again I don't buy your coy 'gee I don't want to be the one doing the call-out' game. If you really didn't want to post a call out you wouldn't have brought it up in the first place.

As long as she makes and delivers the dresses she promised, who cares? She didn't ask for donations. People are buying something from someone on The Nest, which they do all the time. Until she takes their money and doesn't give them the product, I don't see the scam.

Great come back. As if the fact that sambama doesn't post regularly invalidates her opinion. Might as well add 'you don't know me!' while you're at it.

I normally stay out of the drama but you need a new hobby. THIS is probably the reason why you were treated the way you were in the first place. Maybe you should leave others alone because I don't think it works well for you. And people are CALLING you about this? Because it's sooo important?? Riiiiiight.

And isn't this exactly the kind of controversy Hippy herself was involved in, not too long ago?

Re: Dear Hippy
Alright. But DO NOT kill the messenger.
Well unless you're making crazy up, then I'll have at it.
But what doesn't add up?

I shall pay more attention. Interesting.

Eh, I don't get the vibe that she is being shady at all. She isn't trying to get anything from anyone.
It seems that she put her shizz out there to get advice on what to do, I have seen her solicit for donations or anything.
I could be wrong on this one but I don't think she is shady but I'm not shady so maybe I'm not the best judge of it.

Really? People call each other IRL and discuss what was said on the Nest? Really? I'm glad none of these people call me.
I also find it verrrrry interesting that Hippy is calling someone out on a scam. Dun dun dunnnnnnnn.

YES, and claimed total innocence too.
