F/U DH tested positive for tb skin test

I posted on Sunday about DH testing positive on a tb skin test.  I was freaking out and continued to freak out until today.  The only thing I knew about tuberculosis is that it is contagious and deadly.  DH had to have to chest x-ray done to tell whether the tb was active or not and the results came back today that it is not active.  DS and I both had skin tests done and and we are both negative.  Thank god!!!  So, DH must have come in contact with someone who had active tb at some point in his life.  It is an airborn disease and he likely came in contact with it when he was in the military in Korea, but who knows for sure.  They are giving him the option of taking medicine for 6-9 months to kill the bacteria that could at some point in his life cause the tb to become active, which he will do.  This has been such a scary week.  I'm soooo glad it's all over and everything turned out okay.

I am so glad you have some answers...not all what you wanted to hear, but at least they are answers. ?Good luck to your DH with the meds.

He will never have to do another skin test since he has tested positive.  Good luck to ya'll.

You must have been so on edge this week.  But I'm glad to hear that you got good news!

My H just started taking the medicine a couple of weeks ago.  Let your H know (in case he cares) that he is not allowed to drink while taking the medicine.

Also, make sure that he takes the full course of medication. If he starts and stops before the 6-9 months that they recommend, that can cause drug-resistant TB, which is much scarier b/c it is hard to treat.
