Just cracked my head open on my lift gate

And feeling like a mighty big idiot. I was just leaving my friends house after a very nice play date with a couple of friends and she had loaded some maternity clothes, etc into the back of my van while I was strapping Noel into his car seat. I hit the lift gate button and was saying goodbye across the yard to my friends and not paying attention to what I was doing and WHAM slammed the back of my head right into my closing trunk. There was a very audible nasty whack noise. It hurt but I didn't realize how bad until I got into the car and saw some blood on my hand. I think I hit it just right on a sharp part of the trunk.

Man that hurts. owie owie owie owie.

  • Awww :(  I hope it doesn't leave any lasting soreness :
  • ugh.  though i've done something similar both to myself and other people - i've smacked my head pretty hard getting in and out of my explorer on occassion (read more than once!!) and also have a nasty habit of occassionally smacking people in the head when i close the back if they're taller than me. DH won't let me close it when he's nearby anymore.  he's skeered.  lol. Embarrassed

  • Oh... that sucks. I hope you feel better soon!

Speaking of painful car stories, the first time I met my IL's, I went to wave goodbye to them as we were pulling away.  My windows were so clean I didn't realize they weren't open and bonked my head as I tried to say goodbye.  I felt like an idiot...

Thanks for the concern! I think I'm fine though. The headache is gone and it really wasn't even so much a head injury/ head achy type pain but more of a localized sharp stinging which I'm pretty sure is because of whatever sharp spot I hit scraping my scalp. It's still sore if I touch it but beyond that it feels just fine now. I worry about head injuries too but I don't think I hit it hard enough to really be a danger so I've just been making sure I don't feel drowsy or anything just in case (though when you're pregnant it's hard not to be tired!)
