I am a fantastic mother (re: milk drinking)

Because I make a killer fruit smoothie. ?Kendall has not been drinking much milk on his own throughout this whole weaning process, not even from a bottle. So, of course, I ditched that sucker and have been shoving a sippy in his hand every chance I get, but I still feel like he's not getting enough.

Finally, tonight I made a fruit smoothie for him (just frozen berries, whole milk, and plain yogurt) and he sucked that puppy down so fast. ?He probably had more milk in that than he had all day. ?Plus, then I added more milk to the cup with a little bit of the smoothie left and he drank all that, too.?

I know, I know. ?Best not to get him very used to this sort of thing, but I don't intend on replacing milk altogether with this. ?I'll still insist on sippys of plain milk throughout the day. ?Just nice to know I could sneak in a healthy dose this way a few times a week.?

  • DS had the same issue and we did the same exact thing you did.  He loved the smoothie and got his milk too! What ever works.

    Ditto!

  • this is a good idea.  DS is weaning, and he's not a huge fan of cow's milk, so it seems like I'm going to need to get creative to hit that 16oz mark...
Mommy to Seth (4) and Catherine Anne (13 mo.) Excited to welcome a third child in March of 2013!
  • my H makes a strawberry smoothie for himself daily and if she sees it, she flips out, she has to drink it with him. It's so funny, he hides out in the kitchen to drink it so she doesn't see it. I've made her one a few times, but it's not the same as daddy's

but she has no problem with milk, she loves it, in fact, she drinks a little too much of it throughout the day. But she's so small, I don't want her drinking too much juice either, and if I giver her water, she spits it all out.

  • I don't see anything wrong with that, whatever works! Plus, it's healthy.
  • Hey, he's getting milk, fruit and the probiotics from the yogurt... I say you're a genius! DD loves milk, but I think I'll try the smoothie thing too, just to switch it up a bit!
