Is there a difference between gerber apple juice and regular?

I'm pretty sure it's a gimmick to make you buy gerber baby juice. The pedi told us to give ds apple or prune juice for constipation and I'm wondering if I'm a bad momma if I buy regular apple juice.

  • Gerber apple juice does not taste like regular apple juice. I don't know what they do to it to make it different.

  • I'm sure it's the same. I just bought the gerber apple prune because I couldn't find regular prune in the juice section.
  • It's more diluted and I think preservative free.
  • It is just watered down. For DD constipation we used Simply Apple and just watered it down ourselves. She was also only getting an ounce of it.

I have to give DD juice for constipation, too. I honestly didn't even think of looking for a "baby" juice when I bought it. I just bought regular apple juice w/ no sugar and she loves it. I also specifically asked if I should dilute it at all, and her doctor said no b/c she would only be getting 1-2 oz/day and diluting it would only defeat the purpose... so I'd maybe ask your LO's doctor if you should add water or not.

Ditto. I found that odd too.
