Tips for surviving 8-hour car trip w/ 3yo+newborn?

Any creative suggestions for how to keep everyone relatively happy?

We have the portable DVD player with some new shows and old favs, lots of snacks, a few new little toys for the car, will take breaks for stretching/running.  What else?

And no, Benadryl isn't an option - lol - has a paradoxical effect and makes DS#1 a wild-man :{

    We did a 15hr trip! I think you are prepared as you can be.

    We ended up having to stop halfway and rent a hotel for the night. Hopefully, since yours is a bit shorter you will be able to make it!

    We made sure to stop at either a rest area or a restuarant w/ a play area every few hours for 15 min breaks.
